Riverside Massage Therapy Return to Practice Plan – What you need to know

We are following return to practice guidelines created by our College, Association, Provincial Health Office and WorksafeBC. This document will explain the new clinic protocols that are intended to reduce the risk of exposure to the virus that causes COVID-19 and allow you to receive high quality care at Riverside Massage Therapy.

If you are experiencing any Cold, flu or COVID-19 symptoms including but not limited to fever, new or worsening
chronic cough, chills, shortness of breath, sore throat, loss of sense of smell or taste, please CANCEL your appointment (you will not be charged a late cancellation fee) or DO NOT BOOK an appointment.

Please read the following before booking.
Upon booking your appointment:

Preparing for your appointment:

  • Bring a disposable or cloth mask (one will be provided if you need one)
  • Arrive alone (unless you require assistance)
  • Leave unnecessary belongings at home or in your car

Upon arrival before every appointment:

  • Arrive 5 minutes early to your appointment and wait in your car or outside the clinic if the waiting room has more than 2 people in it
  • You may be asked if you have completed the BC COVID-19 Symptom Self-Assessment tool and if anything has changed since then
  • Sanitize your hands upon entry (provided) and wear a mask (required)
  • Once in the treatment room your therapist may go over the revised Informed Consent to Treat form and you will be asked to sign it before treatment can begin

After treatment:

  • Sanitize your hands in the treatment room
  • Proceed to reception (follow one-way traffic flow and observe physical distancing markings)
  • Use contact-less payment (Credit Card/Debit with tap) or direct billing (no cash)
  • Re-schedule online if possible (request a “Welcome email” if you don’t already)
  • Please leave promptly through the exit door

What we are doing:

  • Therapists/staff are following enhanced cleaning protocols
  • Therapists/staff will be completing the BC COVID-19 Self-Assessment tool daily
  • Therapists will be wearing masks
  • Hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol will be available in waiting area and treatment rooms)
  • We will be washing our hands before and after treatment and after eating or touching any hard surface
  • We will be observing physical distancing outside the treatment room (please follow signs/directions from therapists/staff)
  • All linens will be laundered between every use
  • We will not be coming to work if we have any flu-like symptoms (we expect the same from our patients)
  • Installed plastic-easy clean guest chairs

Opening May 25!

We are excited to announce that we will be opening on a limited basis on May 25, 2020. Not all of Riverside therapists will be returning at the same time so please follow up with us next week to see when your therapist is returning. Consider this a “soft reopening” as we sort through all the new procedures and policies.

Please see our Return to Practice Plan and what you need to know. With our new procedures and policies means we will have longer time slots between each patient and will require some of your appointments to be moved or rescheduled. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility in this transition period.

Online booking will not be open until June 1st.

We’re looking forward to seeing you soon!

Getting Closer to Reopen

The clinic is getting closer to reopening but presently still does not have a date. When we get the final word from our college there will be processes and procedures that we will have to abide by. These new changes will take time to implement into our practices. We appreciate your patience as we go through this process to get the clinic ready. Some therapists will return as soon as we get the go ahead from our college and some will take a little longer to prepare. Please keep checking back here for updated information. Stay safe and stay healthy! We miss all of you.

Still No Date to Reopen

Today we learned that as regulated health professionals, RMTs are part of the Phase 2 group to reopen in BC. Phase 2 is slated to start mid May, however, we need direction from our Provincial Health Office (PHO) and our College of Massage Therapists of BC (CMTBC) before we can reopen. We hope that this will all happen before the end of May but please continue to check back for more information. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Stay well.

We’re so sorry to cancel.

If your appointment has been cancelled, please know this is not easy for us. We feel horrible that we can’t be there to help you through your time of need. We also feel horrible that some cancellations may come on abruptly and without notice. Our temporary clinic closure is a fluid situation that we monitor daily, but will likely take weeks if not months before we are allowed to open. Thank you for your understanding in this difficult time and please stay safe. We look forward to seeing all of you very soon.

Clinic Closure Update

Our BC Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, ordered all “personal services” closed as of March 21st. The College of Massage Therapists of BC later that day clarified with Dr. Henry that she did indeed intend that clinics like ours fell in that category as it is impossible to maintain the recommended 2m social distancing. We will not be able to reopen the clinic until this mandated closure is lifted.

If you have appointments booked in April they will likely be cancelled and you will be notified by email. At this point we are not booking appointments as we do not know when we will be able to open.

If you would like to contact us please us the email given to you by your therapist or info@riversidemassagetherapy.ca.

We are sorry for this inconvenience to you, our valued patients, we wish we could be there to help you through this difficult time, but as Justin Trudeau said yesterday, “we can serve by staying home”.

Stay healthy.
